Most Oaxaca travelers tend to hit some combo of Oaxaca Centro ↔ San Jose Del Pacifico ↔ Mazunte. As amazing and lovely as these spots are, there is so much more to Oaxaca! The state is teeming with trails, views, cabins, waterfalls, gorgeous small towns, geological/nature reserves, and so much more.
The mission of Oaxaca Explorer is make it far simpler to discover and go on adventures in Oaxaca.
In 2011, I (Kyle) visited Oaxaca for the first time and was immediately smitten with the place. Few places have clicked so easily for me. I spent roughly 6 weeks traveling and working at a hostel during that time. In 2014, I came back to live longer term (8 months). Very early on in 2014, I was lucky enough to connect with a number of people, including my friend Carlos Hernández Vázquez (founder of Coyote Aventuras). He and I (along with many other people) spent almost every weekend exploring different parts of Oaxaca.
Be it waterfall scrambling in San Pablo Cuatro Venados, hiking around los Pueblos Mancomunados or San Jose del Pacifico, biking near Etla, we realized that Oaxaca offers so much for outdoorsy people. But almost no one was going to them.
So now I came back in 2018/2019 and made this site/platform for adventure discovery in Oaxaca.
